What is the price of the Asus G73SW

What is the price of the Asus G73SW?
The laptop is great! The only thing I don't know is its price :( Different websites tell me different prices. It would be great if you could also tell me its price in Singapore because that's probably where I'll be able to buy it.

if i buy a laptop from the united states. would i be able to use it in singapore?
will the plug be the same? and are there differences in the electricity current? would a simple universal adapter like this http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-F8E449-Universal-Travel-Adapter/dp/B00008O393/ref=pd_bbs_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1204830979&sr=8-1 solve the problem? oops. i realise thats not possible. but dosent laptops usually have a switch that allows us to change the voltage underneath it?
Laptops & Notebooks - 1 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
yes probably you will have problem with plug type if your laptop dosn't come with different plug coz in USA they use plug type A (two parallel flat prongs) and B (same as A but earth connector) and in singapore they use BS 1363 type and also you need a voltage converter to converte 230V to120V or simply ask for a 220v 50H power supply for your laptop because in USA their electricity Voltage is 120V at 60H and in Singapore it is 230V at 50H so when you want to buy your laptop you should ask for these converters also if they provide and also there are some specific edition of laptops for different countries you might not find yours is USA additional info: almost all new laptops has an adaptor with auto switch voltage and they will input voltage from 100 to 230 v and 50 to 60H so try to choose one with this specificaions. almost all hp pavillian models

Hello.... i plan to visit Singapore in March... What is interesting place in Singapore

Hello.... i plan to visit Singapore in March... What is interesting place in Singapore?
Where i can buy cheap electronic gadget ( mobile phone, GPS, Laptop).... Do the KFC and Mc Donald restaurant there halal?
Singapore - 7 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
If you're looking for some shopping, go the the Orchard Road Shopping District. They've got plenty of cheap buys there. For gadgets, try the Sim Lim Square or the Funan IT Mall. Interesting places would be the famous Sentosa Island, the Temple of 1000 Lights, and the Night Safari. I would really recommend the Sentosa of course, it's got a great view there. And also there's the Universial Studios tour, I am just not sure when that would be open.
Answer 2 :
hi a lot of interesting places r in singapore sentosa island(merlion, underwater world, dolphin show, sky tower, cinemania), Night safari( v will c the animals in night view its very beautiful and different experince), suntec city( a small fountain coming from lions mouth its also wonderful), botanic garden (wow wht a wonderful green land and u will c the pakoda's)zoo( a lot of animals is there like white tiger how cute u know and animal shows r very good but its having some timings) birdspark (a lot of small birds r there and their shows r very good) singapoe flyers how cute u know good shopping places r china town, suntec city mall, orchard road and good shops r best, harvey norman, courts, max shops r giving some discounts 4 this time becz chinese new yr celebrations r going here have a wonderful trip enjoy urself
Answer 3 :
Singapore has many places to shop (Orchard Road, malls, etc.). I would consider asking your concierge at the hotel where the best places are for discounts. I would also recommend getting a Singapore Visitor Card (www.thevisitorscard.com). McDonald's and KFC have both received Halal certification from MUIS (The Islamic Religious Council of Singapore). A link to the top things to do in Singapore is included below, including some general information on shopping. I would strongly recommend the Singapore Zoo, Sentosa & the Botanical Gardens.
Answer 4 :
halal food is never difficult to get in singapore... AS long as they show the halal certification u can eat... cheap electronic gadget go to sim lim square, funan it mall or even mustafa centre(24 hrs). Just ask any taxi driver they will know.. Places to visit.... being singaporean i think the zoo is ok, sentosa is ok other then tat its a concrete jungle so dont expect any magnificent nature view here....
Answer 5 :
Hey i'm a muslim too. YESS all mc donalds n KFC in singapore is halal. for hawker centre or restaurant u need to ask them is thay have a halal certificate which is certified by MUIS( Muslim Oraganisation). For cheap gadgets, check out Sim Lim Square, Funan IT Mall, Peninsula Plaza. Intersting places mostly found in the central business district area.
Answer 6 :
yes halal

How will I contact my boyfriend while he's serving in Singapore's military

How will I contact my boyfriend while he's serving in Singapore's military?
My boyfriend lives in Singapore and I live in the US. Though we are far away at the moment, we are very close and are planning on staying together and getting married some day. He is planning to go to school at the same college I am, but the only thing is, Singapore's mandatory military policy requires him to serve two years in the military before he can go to college. How will I contact him while he's in the military? He tells me you can not bring a laptop and the only way to keep in contact with anyone is by phone which only works locally. How will I talk to my boyfriend while he's there? Please nobody say it won't work out we are very close and in a very serious relationship I am simply asking what another way to contact him is.
Singapore - 1 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
Your boyfriend will not be staying in the army for the entirety of two years. That is ridiculous. Depending on his position within the army, he may be allowed to leave the army (it's basically like working, except that he may have to stay inside for days on end) every week, or even every day. And hence when he is not in the army, he will be able to contact you

Which Dell Inspiron Laptop should I choose? They seem to have different model codes for different countries

Which Dell Inspiron Laptop should I choose? They seem to have different model codes for different countries.?
1) I am in university, so I don't need the enhanced gaming screen. I just need the one most suitable for a university student.. 2) I am planning to either buy it from Australia or Singapore, do you know which country sells it cheaper? 3) Thanks so much!

People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
buy from: http://www.delloutlet.com Go e1505 even a plain one will work for student, but it is large @7+# to carry around
Answer 2 :
you should just buy one from your country. otherwise they might charge you extra shipping or tax. i'm not really sure... never tried. anyways, if you are a student, then i'd recommend inspiron 1420/1520 or vostro 1400/1500. vostro is basically a copy and paste of the inspiron blueprint. it's designed for business so it's all black and somewhat tougher with metal frame and shock protected harddrive. you should get a mid end intel core 2 duo (high end chips are way more expensive) like 1.6 GHz. definitely 2 GB of RAM. vista eats a lot of RAM. but 3 GB becomes somewhat too expensive. intel GMA video card, which can perform common tasks but unable to play any games. and if you are not picky on screen res then you can get the default 1280x800 res monitor, otherwise if you are a programming who don't want to scroll so often when reading codes then you might want to consider get the higher res monitor.

Try not to buy from e-bay because that will be a higher risk on the seller side for you

I am going to a university in Singapore soon, and upon settling down, I need MANY stuffs because I can't carry all that I need there. Where will I find these things (with a fairly discount price, perhaps): - Towels - Food in general (noodles, milk, juice, etc) - Cooking stuffs (frying pan, pot, etc) - Clothes (T-shirt, Pullovers and a really really cheap, but ok vest ^_^ ) - Sporting equipments ( badminton bat, swimming goggles) - Musical instrument (harmonica and guitar) - Notebook (for writing) and maybe where they sale laptop at a low price ( a Dell, perhaps) (lower than ordering directly from Dell) I appreciate your help A LOT ^_^

go to mustufa market everything is cheap there including your dell laptop.
Answer 2 :
For most of the stuff, try a hypermart. Like Giant, or Sheng Siong. If you are living in the university halls, they sell stuff there. So will save you some travel expenses. For IT stuff, wait for a computer fair, you'll be sure to get some good deals from there. Also the local Unis offer notebooks at student discounts.

Bringing Canon Rebel XTi on board Singapore Airline

Bringing Canon Rebel XTi on board Singapore Airline?
Just wondering will I be able to bring my Canon Rebel XTi (Canon EOS 400D) on board as a carry on Singapore Airline? I checked their website and it only says: All airline members of the International Air transport Association (IATA) have agreed to observe the following baggage regulations. You may carry on board the articles listed below free of charge over and above your free baggage allowance: A lady̢۪s handbag An overcoat An umbrella or walking stick A laptop or notebook computer A small camera I'd only bring 1 lens (the lens kit that came with the camera) and the bag. Will this be ok? I'd hate to pack it inside a suitcase as a checked in luggage. Oh and I'll be flying from Jakarta, Indonesia to China. Thanks!
Air Travel - 2 Answers

That is an automated message never helpful. Lets put it this way if it fits on as a carry-on and doesn't have water or a weapon on it, it will go through. I brought a PS3 on board a plane and i got threw will very little problems. So the camera should be fine. And just as a heads up try to bring on the plane as little film as possible. Pack the film but bring the camera with you. Have a nice flight.
Answer 2 :
You'll be fine. I've gone through the airport with my carry-on bag, my tote bag and a huge camera case 18"x10"x10" roughly and no one even batted an eye

Recommend a DVD ripping service in Singapore? (not software)

Recommend a DVD ripping service in Singapore? (not software)?
I have 100+ DVD movies that I would like to rip to DivX format on a portable hard drive. It's taking forever to do one by one on my laptop, and wonder if anyone can recommend a 'professional' DVD ripping service in Singapore? YES - i guess i COULD do it myself, but even at 1-2hrs per movie that's still 100+ hrs of work that I don't want to do myself. I'd rather hand the stack to someone and get them back in 3 days...
Home Theater - 3 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
I think it would be cheaper to get a faster computer. I can usually do one 2 hr movie in about 2-3 hours, completely converted over to xvid using AGK.
Answer 2 :
You can try the all-in-one great DVD and video software, meet all your needs. It converts DVD's and videos to play on almost any portable device including iPod, iPhone, Zune, PSP, video capable MP3 players, video capable mobile phones, and Pocket P.C., etc. Meanwhile, it can also support output almost any audio/video format including Video format(H264, MP4, WMV, AVI, MOV, RM, 3GP, flv, SWF, mpeg-1, mpeg-2, VCD, SVCD, DVD, etc.) and Audio format(AC3, AAC, MP2, MP3, MP4, RA, WMA, etc.). http://www.youtubetoipod.org/cucusoft-ultimate-dvd-video-converter/cucusoft-ultimate-dvd-video-converter-suite.html

I suggest that, for Singapore specific questions, you post in Yahoo Answers International-Singapore, where the forum participants live there, or at least in the immediate region, and may have personal knowledge that will help

What should I do with my computer

What should I do with my computer?
I was in Shanghai for about 3 years and there, I spilt some Yakult(a kind of very sweet and sticky drink) but I soon got it fixed. However, now I am back in Singapore and there are ants crawling in and out of my laptop!! What should I do?
Desktops - 3 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
You could buy some compressed air, the one people use to clean keyboards. And blow the ants and crap away with it. After that, remove all the buttons carefully and clean with a little tip of water and paper. Blow it clean with the air and let it dry. Then put the buttons back.
Answer 2 :
Since they are only ants they will have a minimal effect on your pcs performance, but you may smell some burning. You can vacuum them out, or use compressed air. Or, catch them, roast them and serve them for lunch!
Answer 3 :
lmao could soak it in ethanol then leave to dry for 48 hours or just hope the ants eventually eat all leftovers

Is it cheaper to buy a MacBook 2GHz from the Apple Store or from Singapore at their roadshow (March 2008)

Is it cheaper to buy a MacBook 2GHz from the Apple Store or from Singapore at their roadshow (March 2008)?
I am buying a brand new MacBook (MB061) and I was told that Singapore offers very competitive prices for electronics especially during roadshows, one of which is bound to happen this March. When I checked the price at Apple.com, it seems to be just right for my budget, but of course I wouldn't say no to Singapore if theirs is cheaper. A relative is about to go to the US this February and I'm thinking of making her buy the laptop now; otherwise I'll have a friend buy one in Singapore this March. I have to know now so I'd know who should buy the laptop for me. I can't wait!!!
Laptops & Notebooks - 2 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
If the price is right, go for it. I think the US and Singapore's electrical outlets differ so you have to buy a US version, but the magsafe connector should be the same.
Answer 2 :
The 15" MacBook Pro in the USA is $1999.00 + TAX (Approx £1004 + TAX) The 15" MacBook Pro in Singapore is S$3452 WITH TAX ( Approx £1220 ) The USA sales tax varies from state to state. My guess is the prices will be about the same

How long will it take my laptop ordered from excaliberpc (US) to reach Singapore via USPS Global Priority Mail
Hey all. I ordered a laptop (Asus M50sv-A1) from excaliberpc.com. I was wondering if anyone knows -how long it would take for the shipment to arrive at my doorstep provided that i used the USPS global priority mail. Currently it says International Dispatch in the tracking website but it hasn't changed for like 3 days. -how much tax will i be hit with and how do i pay it? -and lastly, between Express mail international and global priority mail, which one is actually faster? Thanks in advance
Other - Business & Finance - 1 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
There is no more Gloabal Priority Mail, it was changed to Priority Mail International last year. Either of the two Express Mail products are faster than Priority Mail. You would have to check with your Customs services to find out how much you would need to pay in taxes and duty. The tracking message is not going to change until it gets scanned at Customs. You can use usps.com for tracking, but it would likely be better to use the tracking application at the Singapore Post Office website at this time

I bought laptop on-line in January 07 (in Singapore)

I bought laptop on-line in January 07 (in Singapore).?
I have 2 questions : 1- In its website it mentioned that memory is 512MB DDR2 SCRAM at 533.Mhz. After i bought it i checked it with CPU-Z and i found that RAM speed is only 266.0 MHz (RAM's capacity and type are correct). Indeed Invoice and 'saved cart' (to confirm order before placing firm order), do not mention about speed/freq, but at that time i was not aware. Neverthelles now i feel i was cheated, am i right ? 2- In website and invoice the OS is XP media center but when i checked it in direct X diagnostic tool, it shows XP profesional (5.1 build 2006). In the end, what is the real OS of my laptop ? I dont understand much abt computer, so I think i need some advise before calling the customer service. It's affordable and popular brand, i think you can guess. Thanks in advance for your feedback.

DDR stands for "double data rate" that means for every clock cycle, two lots of data get through. Now if you double the frequency of 266MHz you get an effective clock speed of???? Right Click on "My Computer" and select the bottom option properties. The real version of your operating system can be seen there. Hope this helps, teef_au

Laptops and other electronic items in HK are much cheaper than Singapore. And you'll get international warranty, no doubt. I've no idea how much it'll cost in Dubai. Between the Dubai and Singapore, my guess is Singapore. Btw, when you buy make sure you go out right there in the common place electronic market and not in the malls or shops in the airports.

DVD region codes - how does it affect the DVD play

DVD region codes - how does it affect the DVD play?
Hi I have a Acer laptop bought from Singapore and have played Dvds from India on them, which has worked ok. Recently bought a DVD from the US, which plays on my laptop but it sort of slows down after each second, so there's a slur in the speech and movement while watching it. I thought that if it was a region code problem it wouldn't play at all. Is that wrong? Does region code problem let the DVD play but quality changes? I tried the same DVd on my portable dvd player which is multi region and it works ok, so it isnt a fault DVD! Any ideas? The DVD plays on my laptop DVD drive but it slows down every 2 seconds and goes back to normal speed again. What could this be as what you are saying it wouldn't play at all if it were a region code problem.

A good laptop would be a toshiba if you can find one. Quite a long battery life and is very powerful.

I would suggest you read product reviews and buying guide from below URL to determine what fit to your require spec: http://reviews.cnet.com/4520-7602_7-1016082-1.html?tag=dir Personally, the Sony VAIO VGN-FJ170/B is a good choice for me based on your specification. Good luck

where should i visit in singapore ???
i will be visiting singapore in april... i juz wondering where i should go and do.....i also like to shop in sg(electronic devices such as, ipod, laptop, camera..etc.) ... i also like to go some interesting places in sg .....

Answer 1 :
Singapore is a really small but attractive city. You can basically scan the whole city in a day. (with the help of train of course) For shopping go to Bugis village. So many things to find. Enjoy!
Answer 2 :
At the moment, it's a good bet to stay away from Singapore. Recently, the city-state's police proved that their so called safe haven is not so safe after all. Singapore is a place of a lot or pretense and one must wonder what degree of rot really exists beneath the seemingly beautiful veneer that is presented.
Answer 3 :
Singapore is a terrific destination for Australians, and of course we do have a history of involvement with them, part of it being the combat role WW2 and the on going military roles we have played out. For me the highlights of the times i have been there were the food relatively cheap some places like outdoor stalls were the local people go,language is no problem as English is regarded as one of there primary languages. But one of the real highlights for me was a visit to the Zoo,as Australians it takes a lot to impress us but impressed i think you will be,each enclosure is maintained by people who have one on one relationships with the occupants with a great deal of care put into catering to there needs. Singapore people like to party as well and most of the bigger hotels have clubs in them that are open To all providing you meet the age criteria.
Answer 4 :
Singapore is the shopper paradise !!! If you have limited time, just go Orchard Road, shop from one end to the other. All along Orchard Rd are shops! In term of technology devices, Spore is the best place to shop in SEA. Re 'interesting places' to go, grab a booklet from the airport, it will tell you all.
Answer 5 :
If you have a day or two only, visit Orchard Road, Little India and China Town. If three to five days, you can visit Vivo City, Sentosa, East Coast Parkway, the Esplanade, Big Eye, and Science Centre. Should be adequate to give you a good idea of the vibrancy of our city and to find out what makes us tick. Oh don't forget Sim Lim square, next to Little India, to shop for your electronic gadgets. The shopping is real cheap and you won't regret you made a right choice to come here! Do bring some light, cool wear as the afternoon temperatures can go up 30-34 degrees celsius. Good luck!
Answer 6 :
Hi AleixX if you plan to shop for cameras and related equipment, I recommend Cathay Photo (Level 1, Peninsula Plaza) and John 3:16 Photo (Level 5, Funan IT Mall). Their prices are fair, though not always the lowest. The staff at these 2 shops do listen to your requirements and recommend accordingly. Peninsula Plaza and Funan IT Mall are both a short walk from the City Hall MRT Station. For electronic devices, nothing beats Sim Lim Square (a blue building on Rochor Canal Road). The prices here are generally the best in Singapore. But I strongly suggest you do a bit of research before you come. Make a list of the models you'd be interested in & take note of their prices back home. Some of the salesmen at the level 1 shops (mostly home entertainment, video cams, etc) are masters at upselling. Give them half a chance and they'll try to sell you more than what you need, even what you do not need. So knowing what you want and a bit about the prices help. Remember also that these guys are not the Ritz Carltons of the world, so don't bank on good customer service. Drive a hard bargain, or simply walk away. The computer shops at the higher levels are generally good bargains. 3 shops where I've had positive experience are Bizgram, Fuwell, and M Technic. Elsewhere, the areas above the Orchard Road - Marina Bay train stations are basically one huge inter-connected shopping mall. The usual boutiques and departmental stores abound. But if you have time, you'll also find some rather unusual stuff at places like Far East Plaza and Heeren. I also recommend you take a walking tour or two at the so-called 'ethnic enclaves'. Little India is pretty interesting. Visit Tekka Market, Buffalo Road, Kerbau Road, Campbell Lane and Dunlop St. This is an authentic place where the locals do frequent. If you've never walked into a Hindu temple, visit the Sri Veerama Kaliamman Temple near Belilios Road. These places are all walkable from the Little India MRT station. http://www.etour-singapore.com/little-india.html Another walking tour worth doing is at Kampong Glam, Singapore's Malay-Arab Quarter. Here, you may visit Singapore's largest mosque. Or shop on Arab St and Bussorah St for multi-coloured textile, rattan-works and other knick-knacks. At the Malay Heritage Centre, you may also join a pottery or batik-painting workshop. Nearest MRT station: Bugis. http://www.etour-singapore.com/kampong-glam.html Have a great vacation in Singapore.
Answer 7 :
basically it depends on how many days u going to spend in singapore. If short term, i suggest u go orhard road or vivocity as u can find many things there...as for sight seeing.. vivocity can link you to Sentosa as well. If long term, u might want to consider places like chinatown, sim lim square(many electronics), beach road(food and army items market)... and some neighbourhood areas to see some local culture, no point keep on shopping. Try some local food at hawker centres instead of resturants. Can visit some of the night spots as well if you are keen.
Answer 8 :
For electronic devices, the cheapest and best variety is at SIM LIM SQUARE, most of us locals shop there. You can pick the parts, and the guys can fix up a high end computer for you on the spot. However, i know of some blacklisted stores that have cheated foreigners, and this list exists i've seen it. here's the only thing i could find for now: http://www.sgforums.com/forums/8/topics/308686 For other fun destinations, check out: http://www.visitsingapore.com/publish/stbportal/en/home.html You can take our MRT near to almost every tourist spot and take a cab to the location. Shopping: Orchard Rd, Vivocity, ( Marina Square/Citylink Mall/Suntec City and Raffles City are in close range ), Food: Please try our local food that EVERY singaporean eats very often (except malays have their own halal cuisine): Chicken Rice, Satay, Hokkien Mee, Laksa, Nasi Lemak, Sting Ray, Frogs Leg Porridge, Fried Carrot Cake, Bak Kut Teh, Roti Prata with Curry, and the list goes on..... Enjoy! If you've got anymore query just email me.
Answer 9 :
Shopping: Bugis Junction/Village Sim Lim Square Funan Digital Mall Suntec City Marina Square Orchard Road China Town Little India Vivo City Notice: If you go to sim lim square, becareful some shopkeepers may scam you so don't buy the stuff you want straight away, there are lots of others shops that might sell the same stuff you are looking for
Answer 10 :
electronics haven are sim lim square and funan centre, but you might get fleece, so be smart. Actually a good alternative is mustafa centre, near farrer park mrt. And it open 24hr, yes, all day shoppin. And the money changer there offer one of the best rate in sg. As for places to go, check out zoo, night safari, singapore flyer. take in the sights along singapore river by walkin along it's bank in the evening. You will end up at Merlion park. You can give Sentosa a miss, expensive tourist trap. Visit the heartland too! see how ordinary pple live, just hop onto MRT and get off as u desire, There is no must see attraction here as it is all man made stuff, the only way to experience the island is to wonder where ur heart leads u.
Answer 11 :
For electronics try Simlin Square or Funan Mall

Internet Plugs in Singapore

Internet Plugs in Singapore?
My boss told me that he couldn't connect his laptop to the internet plugs in a Singapore hotel. When he asked the hotel for help, they told him that his cable wasn't powerful enough. Does anyone know where I can buy the right kind of cable in the US and what it's called? I'd like to add that the cable plugged in, but nothing was being transferred to or from the connection.

Crock of crap! I've been to Beijing, Hong Kong, Singapore, Shanghai, Tokyo, Seoul. An RJ45 is an RJ45 so long as it is Cat5/e/6 rating and should work on any 10/100Mb/s network. Powerful enough? CRAP! Their hotel network is experiencing problems and they always blame the customer. Cat5+ is an ISO standard used in networking and if a hotel has a guest networking system, that system was most likely set up by a qualified 3rd party vendor (as my company does)

singapore vs bangkok in buying these items

singapore vs bangkok in buying these items?
I wanna buy these ietms which city is best for buying these? 1.Branded clothes 2.Electronics-Camrecoder and Student Laptop
Singapore - 6 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
Branded clothes (fake ones) - buy in Bangkok. For real ones, you really don't save much because all they do is convert the prices--you still pay the same. Electronics - probably better off in Singapore.
Answer 2 :
Singapore is a shopping and food paradise and our government is very strict in dealing with imitation merchandise or goods. If you wanted genuine goods and huge range of brands than it is better to buy in Singapore. Most people claimed that shopping and eating in Hong Kong is the best but if you come to Singapore you will experience a similar sensation if not better. Welcome to Singapore and enjoy your "eat eat and buy buy".
Answer 3 :
Branded clothes. I think it's cheaper in Bangkok because the goods are fake there. You have to look carefully at some of the goods here in Singapore because some may be fake as well. Real branded goods can be found in Orchard road but they are quite expensive too. (You can get there by MRT, to Orchard MRT station) ------------------------------------------------------- Electronics. Electronics can be found in Sim Lim Square. (Near OG and Bugis street) There are hundreds of stores in there and it's common to find yourself walking in circles. You have to be patient there and look for the correct store. Some are mad cheap but some are the usual expensive price. http://www.virtualtourist.com/travel/Asia/Singapore/Singapore-1495679/Shopping-Singapore-Sim_Lim_Square-BR-1.html Bus Service(s) Available: 1. Bus Stop Location: Along Rochor Road infront of Fu Lu Shou Complex Bus Service: 48, 57, 170, 170X 3. Bus Stop Location: Along Rochor Canal Road after Sim Lim Square Bus Service: 23, 48, 57, 66, 170, 170X 4. Bus Stop Location: Along Sungei Road in front of Tekka Mall Bus Service: 2N, 4N, 7N, 48, 56, 57, 131, 166, 170, 170X MRT Service(s) Available: MRT: Bugis - Entrance/Exit C Distance : 0.43 km away MRT: Bugis - Entrance/Exit B Distance : 0.44 km away MRT Little India - Entrance/Exit A Distance : 0.5 km away MRT: Little India - Entrance/Exit C Distance : 0.51 km away
Answer 4 :
Haya just buy in Singapore la, Thailand goods are known to be fake.
Answer 5 :
Branded clothes best to get in HK. Comparing Singapore & Bangkok, Singapore is cheaper. Electronics - Definitely Singapore. Be very careful though. Better to buy from Mega Electronic Stall like Harvey Norman and Courts as there's weekends sales almost every week! Clearance cos their year end is end of June!
Answer 6 :
bkk better

Can anyone recommend a good foreign voltage converter for use with a laptop and curling iron

Can anyone recommend a good foreign voltage converter for use with a laptop and curling iron?
I am traveling to Japan, Singapore, India and Oman on a scholarship program. I need a very reliable voltage converter/kit for use with my laptop and a curling iron (although one that works with laptop is most important)
Packing & Preparation - 1 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
Suggest that you first check what is the input voltage range of laptop computer. If its 110 volts to 240 volts then you don't need a voltage converter. For sure, you need an adapter plug since the electric outlets of some countries ( in your list ) might be different from what you normally use. Happy Holidays

Answer 1 :
If it plugs in, it probably works. If your boss isnt computer savy, hes most likely doing something wrong on the software side. I doubt it has anything to do with hardware, unless the wire is just old and needs to be replaced. If thats the case you have to know what kind of internet plug hes using. If its the "big telephone plug" then it is most likely an RJ45 wire. You can get them pretty much anywhere. If it is a telephone jack size wire, then you need a telephone wire. Agian, you can find them anywhere. Radioshack, etc, etc.. Good luck!
Answer 2 :
By right all laptops should have wireless feature in it. Unless that laptop is over 10 years old. Anyway try to get your boss/the hotel management to enable the wireless function for him, that way he doesn't need any internet plugs/cables or etc. I'm sure most Hotels' nowadays have Wifi or wireless line. Just get someone to enable it for him

Are airports allowed to check the contents of your laptop

Are airports allowed to check the contents of your laptop?
I am traveling to greece and really want to bring my laptop but I have some copied DVDs and illegally downloaded music on it and am really worried of airport security checking my laptop. Can they legally check the files (I'm going via Australia, Singapore and then Greece)? They would have no reason to believe I'm a threat to security. I am 20, female and white.

Answer 2 :

Not yet.

You're just paranoid, i doubt they'll check it.
Answer 5 :
MAYBE THE FBI CAN TELL YOU,THEY HAVE AN ARGUMENT WHIT THE SONG DISTRIBUTORS,THE FBI CHASE AND GETS,AND PEOPLE PAID? BE AFRAID?
Answer 6 :
Legally, they can do whatever they want when you go through customs. To err on the side of caution, either don't bring your laptop, or remove all illegal material from it. Though customs isn't going to care too much about music most likely, and not so much about movies either. They may only care if you have porn that would be illegal in the country you are going to.
Answer 7 :
Legally, they can. Practically, they won't. (How long would the lines be, if they searched every electronic device's files?) And, even if they did, they don't work for the publisher of your pirated media, so they don't care. (That's not a criminal offense, it's a civil tort.)
Answer 8 :
You cannot export ANYTHING from the USA without a license. That's the law. The good news is that the law also gives MOST people a license (not a right) to export most of their personal belongings for personal use, but NOT generally anything used for business (which may need a separate declaration and license). Just because you don't declare anything when you are leaving doesn't mean they can't search you at that time or when you return. Yes, they can legally check anything that you are exporting, such as a laptop computer, to make sure you are not smuggling things that you are not allowed to have. If they catch you when you return, you will have to explain where you obtained the contraband and how you took it out of the country without making the necessary export declarations. I am familiar with several cases in which people were arrested for possession of software and data files that they were not allowed to export without a specialized license (rather than the general license you have for your personal belongings). Even if you are exporting commercially available software, there is no guarantee that it is available outside the USA, and you could be in violation. Customs agents can and do check, as agents authorized by the Export Control Act. They can simply pull you aside to a separate room and hold you for as many hours as it takes to go through your computer. The State Department and Commerce Department administer exports. "U.S. Customs officials (now part of the Department of Homeland Security) have the authority to check any export or import against its license at the borders. Criminal and civil penalties for export control violations can be severe. For munitions export control violations, the statute authorizes a maximum criminal penalty of $1 million per violation and, for an individual person, up to 10 years imprisonment." Our software company occasionally had to send an attorney to the airport in Boston to help employees explain what they had on their computer, where they were taking it, why, and what government permission they had. So, they have the duty and power to check what you're exporting on your computer, so there is nothing to prevent them from finding anything else that may be on there. Edit: As a side note -- an "export" includes delivery to a foreign national, even if you're still in the USA

Can you use your laptop while on the plane

Can you use your laptop while on the plane?
Does Singapore Airlines allow you to use/play on your laptop while the plane is "moving"?
Air Travel - 5 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
When the seat belts sign is off, you can use it. ... it think...
Answer 2 :
you should be when they say 'you can now turn on your electronics' just make sure with the flight atttendent
Answer 3 :
You should check with the specific airline. Some airlines are just beginning to allow broadband Wi-Fi internet usage on planes while in flight. But not all are on board yet. I just looked up Singapore Airlines (Google), and it seems they are allowing it. I'd still make that call to confirm that though. Rules can change any given day with the airlines and today's security concerns... so best to check to be sure. They definitely were one of the first to allow it. (Don't forget about Google. Something like this would be best researched with a Google search, rather than someone here doing it for you.) (If you're guessing and don't have any facts... don't answer!!!!!)
Answer 4 :
Hello, The flight attendants will notify you when portable electronic devices, including laptops, can be used in flight. In the US, this is when your aircraft reaches about 10,000 feet above sea level. I imagine it is similar in other countries as well. Yes, you may use your laptop. However, the wireless networking and/or wireless communication device in all portable electronic devices must be disabled when the cabin door is closed, which happens when your aircraft is ready to pushback from the gate. The seatbelt sign's purpose is to indicate whether the flight conditions will safely allow for a passenger to exit his or her seat without injury due to the current flight conditions. It does not indicate anything else for passengers. Happy flying!
Answer 5 :
Yes indeedy.
Answer 6 :
yes because most people that work when they get on an plane they use there laptop for when they need it for use
Answer 7 :
When they it is ok, But don't have in on when your taking off or landing

What should I do from 2pm to 4pm next day (26 hours) in Singapore

What should I do from 2pm to 4pm next day (26 hours) in Singapore?
In my list: 1.Zoo --> Night Safari --> Dinner in China Town -> Cafe in City Space -> Merlion Square; 2.Sentosa -> Underwater World -> Sun bathing -> Lunch in Bukit Junction -> Shopping -> Changi A.P . - Do you think It's possible? - Which area do you think is suitable for the above trip to stay in convenience? - Where can I find the brand new and used laptop shop/market in Singapore? - Which places do you think I have to go in Singapore for experience purposes? - Are there any Sale off season during June? Especially for electric stuffs? - We are a 4 ppl family (3 adult + one 12 y.o. child), is there any Quad room available in Singapore hotels? - Equinox Res., City Space, New Asia Bar, which of them is better for view-seeing and relax? Any body can help, please!

Answer 1 :
Night safari opens at night, how are u gonna go to dinner at chinatown after that? the place would be closed. I'd suggest skip the zoo. Why don't u absorb the sights and sounds of real singapore instead of going to the zoo?? havent u seen the tigers, lions, chimpanzees and stuff before? watch it on nat geo! Laptop shops are all over Sim Lim Square. that's where locals buy their computers. Lunch at Bugis Junction, not Bukit junction. What's so nice about seeing the merlion????sigh,...i dont understand u guys..........
Answer 2 :
Depending on your interests and whether you have children 1. The zoo is a great place for a family and you can always go to the night safari after that which will bring you to about 10PM. You can get dinner in the zoo or night safari but it is expensive but then again, what do you expect.. this is a tourist attraction location. 2. If you want any electronic shopping, you can go down to Funan Center where you have literally hundreds of shops selling electronics. Not worth getting used notebooks as the new ones are very competitively priced. Shopping in Changi airport is fine but I have always found them to be quite similarly priced compared to the city. Oh, if you are from out of town, you can claim back your Goods and Services Tax rebate at the airport after you have checked in. I suggest you go to Changi Airport website for details on what document proof needed. I believe the Great Singapore Sale should be on during June as it is the school holidays. And since it is the holidays, make sure you book your hotels soon. Hotel rooms are getting very tight in Singapore these days. You can always get family rooms or adjacent rooms. Other things to do would be to take a ride in the Singapore wheel which will give you a great view of Singapore. And then you can always take a leisure lunch at Marina Center which is within walking distance of the wheel. And also do some last minute shoppings at the mall there or at Suntec City ( walking distance) Dinner at Boat Quay or Clark Quay although Clark Quay is more happening these days. Lots of restaurants and drinking joints. Have fun...
Answer 3 :
I am assuming that you want to FULLY maximise your stay in singapore, so i'm going to give you as maxunyn time schedule allocation: 1) 2pm - 3pm : get a hotel ( go to travelocity or zuji.com, i cant help you with that ) If you want relative affordable, go to furama hotel (it's near chinatown), higher end Pan Pacific Hotel at the City Hall area ) 2) 3pm - 5 pm: If you really want to know Singapore, and wants to go Sentosa, go to IMAGES OF SINGAPORE , it's a 1 hour museum - trip - education, it shows you EVERYthing about singapore in one hour. and then take your pictures at the nearby "Carlsberg Sky Tower" (just beside the "images of singapore" 15mins $15dollars (the largest Merlion statue is nearby you can take pictures), and have your snacks at Subway there, then head down to your Underwater World, and go to Siloso Beach for your Sun bathing (This will satisfy the kid, and it is knowledge learning for adults) 3) 6 - 9pm Wash up and head down to Night Safari (its an amazing place with the tram rides opens at 7pm (night creatures are truely different!), have your dinner there. Try to leave the place early so you have more time 4) 9-10pm: Get back to hotel and get the child to sleep! If he doent sleep yet go to Esplanade area to take a BUM BOAT RIDE down singapore river. ( you will see where clarke quay is during the boat ride) 5) 10-2am: Time for the adults, you cant miss this place! night life clubs and pubs / bistro at Clarke Quay. It's an amazing place you dont want to miss. (what's there: ministryofsound, forbidden city, fashionbar, all things interesting for ages 18-55) next day: 6) morning: Go to have your breakfast at Chinatown / explore the place / museums / or go to BUGIS, get to SIM LIM SQUARE to get the cheap electronic products, make sure you always walk away from the shop owners so they will give you better price as you are a tourist. Remember to pick up the brochures at the entrance of most shops (level 3 - 5) with the price lists so they cannot give you 2nd prices. 7) Go to Equinox res for lunch, you can see the whole of city Singapore from there, no time for detail. If you have additional time, take a taxi to suntec city and take the DUCK TOUR (it's a bus-boat that can travel on road and water, you can experience a guided tour from there) 8) Pack your bags and go to Airport to enjoy the experience at the airport. Areas cluster: chinatown / little india / city hall / singapore river / bugis / sentosa

Answer 1 :
for PC/Laptop,Singapore is cheaper, because is free tax.sales tax is 7%,you can claim back if you are tourers, and the about is carry with you out of Singapore.our FUNAN centre/SIMLIM SQ. is the centre of pc product.BUT some shop just any how for the prices, beware of it,ask many shop for the same product before you buy it.some shop with LOGO of CASE TRUS.....is better coice for shop.check those list when you arrive in Changi apport, and ask how you can claim the 7% when leveing here.good luck, and enjoys you holiday here soon....
Answer 2 :
For foreigners like you, Singapore can give a better bet cause you can get back 7% GST. its easier for you to get a better stock in Singapore than in Malaysia.
Answer 3 :
