Just go to www.newegg.com or whatever computer website and go to the laptop section and look for a laptop with at least an i5 core (intel) and 2GB Ram and more than 160 GB HDD. Basically, just look for the best laptop specs in your budget and get it.. also make sure it has good video card too in case you're doing CAD and stuff. Anyway, good luck and let me know if you still need help. Check this laptop out and go on from there: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834146613
Answer 2 :
The lifespan of electronic goods is getting shorter and shorter. So any laptop (be it cheap or expensive) is not going to work wonderful after 3 years. If you maintain it very good then it may last another year. So depending on your budget and requirement you can go for a suitable model. E.g. you like lite, and easy to carry then a ultra thin or mobile will do. If you like big screen but don't mind the weight then you can go for 17' laptops. Check cnetasia.com for laptop reviews and selection criteria. Also if you are joining in Uni typically the Uni has subsidized laptop. (try 8flags.com.sg).

Which ever your choice may be, Don't get a Atom (far too slow for engineering), have a look at this (free shipping): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00352LQYO?ie=UTF8&tag=a00ba7a-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00352LQYO Its so pack with everything you'll ever need: New Core i5-430M 2.53GHz, which is much more faster than Pentium & "Core 2 Duo". 16-Inch HD LED LCD Display 500GB Hard Drive 4GB DDR3 NVIDIA GeForce GT325M It has the latest "USB 3.0" which is 10 times faster than "USB 2.0" Multi-touch touchpad (like iphone) Scratch resistant coating more etc... 3-year long survey proves that ASUS laptop is highly reliable. http://www.engadget.com/2009/11/17/laptop-reliability-survey-asus-and-toshiba-win-hp-fails/ But what's truly unique about this laptop, is that it has the new "NVIDIA Optimus technology". Currently only ASUS's limited laptops has this technology exclusively from Nvidia (No other brand has this). This technology really allows your BATTERY to LAST LONGER. You can find out more here, official site: http://usa.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=RZGwDN2NnWZ7NhbH (check out its introduction video) It also comes with: 1 month Zero Bright Dot Guarantee. Buying an APPLE iPHONE from Singapore and unlocking it

Buying an APPLE iPHONE from Singapore and unlocking it?
ok suppose I buy it from Singapore when i go there next month and bring it home and plug it to my laptop and connect with iTunes. (Only then it will activate...right?) So after I activate it and unlock it using the jailbreak program, can i still plug it and connect it with itunes to sync? Will it get locked? Do I have to insert the original sim that came with the iphone BEFORE i plug it? Or else what happens...does it freeze or summin? Please answer all the questions...

It is not a great deal now. People buy Iphones from everywhere and jailbreak them using softwars. While choosing jailbreaking softwares you have the make sure abou the following points. WHether the version is in tune with Iphone updates. Whether they offer after sales services Whether they offer easy guidelines I have used http://www.easyiphoneunlocking.com/index3.html and I found answers to all my questions. I also got loads of bonus with the jail breaking software. I followed the instructions and I am happy
