where should i visit in singapore ???
i will be visiting singapore in april... i juz wondering where i should go and do.....i also like to shop in sg(electronic devices such as, ipod, laptop, camera..etc.) ... i also like to go some interesting places in sg .....

Singapore is a really small but attractive city. You can basically scan the whole city in a day. (with the help of train of course) For shopping go to Bugis village. So many things to find. Enjoy!

At the moment, it's a good bet to stay away from Singapore. Recently, the city-state's police proved that their so called safe haven is not so safe after all. Singapore is a place of a lot or pretense and one must wonder what degree of rot really exists beneath the seemingly beautiful veneer that is presented.

Singapore is a terrific destination for Australians,and of course we do have a history of involvement with them,part of it being the combat role WW2 and the on going military roles we have played out. For me the highlights of the times i have been there were the food relatively cheap some places like outdoor stalls were the local people go,language is no problem as English is regarded as one of there primary languages. But one of the real highlights for me was a visit to the Zoo,as Australians it takes a lot to impress us but impressed i think you will be,each enclosure is maintained by people who have one on one relationships with the occupants with a great deal of care put into catering to there needs. Singapore people like to party as well and most of the bigger hotels have clubs in them that are open To all providing you meet the age criteria.

Singapore is the shopper paradise !!! If you have limited time, just go Orchard Road, shop from one end to the other. All along Orchard Rd are shops! In term of technology devices, Spore is the best place to shop in SEA. Re 'interesting places' to go, grab a booklet from the airport, it will tell you all.

If you have a day or two only, visit Orchard Road, Little India and China Town. If three to five days, you can visit Vivo City, Sentosa, East Coast Parkway, the Esplanade, Big Eye, and Science Centre. Should be adequate to give you a good idea of the vibrancy of our city and to find out what makes us tick. Oh don't forget Sim Lim square, next to Little India, to shop for your electronic gadgets. The shopping is real cheap and you won't regret you made a right choice to come here! Do bring some light, cool wear as the afternoon temperatures can go up 30-34 degrees celsius. Good luck!

Hi AleixX if you plan to shop for cameras and related equipment, I recommend Cathay Photo (Level 1, Peninsula Plaza) and John 3:16 Photo (Level 5, Funan IT Mall). Their prices are fair, though not always the lowest. The staff at these 2 shops do listen to your requirements and recommend accordingly. Peninsula Plaza and Funan IT Mall are both a short walk from the City Hall MRT Station. For electronic devices, nothing beats Sim Lim Square (a blue building on Rochor Canal Road). The prices here are generally the best in Singapore. But I strongly suggest you do a bit of research before you come. Make a list of the models you'd be interested in & take note of their prices back home. Some of the salesmen at the level 1 shops (mostly home entertainment, video cams, etc) are masters at upselling. Give them half a chance and they'll try to sell you more than what you need, even what you do not need. So knowing what you want and a bit about the prices help. Remember also that these guys are not the Ritz Carltons of the world, so don't bank on good customer service. Drive a hard bargain, or simply walk away. The computer shops at the higher levels are generally good bargains. 3 shops where I've had positive experience are Bizgram, Fuwell, and M Technic. Elsewhere, the areas above the Orchard Road - Marina Bay train stations are basically one huge inter-connected shopping mall. The usual boutiques and departmental stores abound. But if you have time, you'll also find some rather unusual stuff at places like Far East Plaza and Heeren. I also recommend you take a walking tour or two at the so-called 'ethnic enclaves'. Little India is pretty interesting. Visit Tekka Market, Buffalo Road, Kerbau Road, Campbell Lane and Dunlop St. This is an authentic place where the locals do frequent. If you've never walked into a Hindu temple, visit the Sri Veerama Kaliamman Temple near Belilios Road. Here, you may visit Singapore's largest mosque. Or shop on Arab St and Bussorah St for multi-coloured textile, rattan-works and other knick-knacks. basically it depends on how many days u going to spend in singapore. If short term, i suggest u go orhard road or vivocity as u can find many things there...as for sight seeing.. vivocity can link you to Sentosa as well. If long term, u might want to consider places like chinatown, sim lim square(many electronics), beach road(food and army items market)... and some neighbourhood areas to see some local culture, no point keep on shopping. Try some local food at hawker centres instead of resturants. Can visit some of the night spots as well if you are keen.

For electronic devices, the cheapest and best variety is at SIM LIM SQUARE, most of us locals shop there. You can pick the parts, and the guys can fix up a high end computer for you on the spot. electronics haven are sim lim square and funan centre, but you might get fleece, so be smart. Actually a good alternative is mustafa centre, near farrer park mrt. And it open 24hr, yes, all day shoppin. And the money changer there offer one of the best rate in sg. As for places to go, check out zoo, night safari, singapore flyer. take in the sights along singapore river by walkin along it's bank in the evening. You will end up at Merlion park. You can give Sentosa a miss, expensive tourist trap. Visit the heartland too! see how ordinary pple live, just hop onto MRT and get off as u desire, There is no must see attraction here as it is all man made stuff, the only way to experience the island is to wonder where ur heart leads u.
